Carnarvon Gorge Queensland

A hidden jewel in the central highland ranges of Queensland is the Carnarvon Gorge, one of my many favourite destinations. Towering sandstone cliffs, the numerous shallow creek crossings with clear water fringed with ferns and palm trees, Aboriginal rock art and the flora and fauna make for an inland oasis, one I would like to visit for a third time as I still haven’t seen it all.
There are numerous beautiful walks and its best to start early to capture all the beauty. Moss Garden walk was round 7km return and was one of my favourites as was Boolimba Bluff, the Art Gallery and Amphitheatre although the ladder entry was a challenge for someone scared of heights.
