About Me
My passion for art started at a young age. I have always enjoyed drawing and this led to an interest in oil painting, which is still my preferred medium. I also enjoy creating with water colours pastels, ink, photography and sculpture.
For myself, art is a reflection of the beauty that is in our world, a way to capture and express memories of life’s special moments and experiences.
My style of art is mostly traditional and I particularly enjoy painting landscapes, birds and wildlife, and more recently portraiture. I like to try and capture the mood of a scene or experience by focusing on the main attribute as well as the play of light creating silhouettes and shadows. I enjoy travelling to find inspiration for my art subjects.
Although basically self-taught, I did later study and complete my Certificate III in Fine Arts. I have also recently achieved a diploma with distinction for Art Therapy. Currently working as a teacher, I enjoy inspiring young children to enjoy art and being creative. In the future I hope to utilise my knowledge of art as a therapy, to assist others and promote emotional healing and well-being through art.
