On a quick trip to Glenn Innes Highlands we were blown away by the beautiful countryside, but the Standing Stones at Centennial Parklands were the highlight (or was it the strawberry farm?). In the northern tablelands in the New England region of NSW, the traditional owners are the Ngoorabul people, however my celtic roots were inspired by these megaliths which were roughly 3.5metres high and made a spectacular photo at sunset.
The stones celebrate celtic nations, whose descendants contributed to the cultural influence of Australian celtic life. Another interesting marking stone was the Gorsedd Stone, where its my understanding that at Eidsteddfod festivals and ceremonies from the Gorsedd Stone (Gorsedh from the Welsh language), a symbolic call is made to the four quarters of the nation. "Is there Peace?" and all would affirm "Peace"
